Clarence Henry Newton

Clarence Henry Newton passed away on August 27, 2024 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. He was 88 years old. Clarence was born September 22, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to parents Dale Dean Newton and Isabel Marion Conkey Newton. He moved to Jackson, MS at a young age, attended Central High School, married the love of his life, Micky Murphy and was a member of the United States Army from 1958-1960.

Upon his return from Germany, he was employed by Mills Morris Automotive which allowed him to work with two of his favorite hobbies: music and cars. He enjoyed all kinds of music and sold 8-track players when it was all the rage! He later went on to work as an over-the-road truck salesman and Used Truck Manager at a variety of local dealerships including Jackson Mack, Kenworth and Empire Trucks.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mickey Murphy Newton, his parents, and his brother Larry D. Newton. He is survived by two children, son David Newton (Anne) and daughter Linda Brown; 4 grandchildren whom he was crazy about: Jacob (Jessica), Kyle (Emily), Reid (Clara Ward) Newton and Lindsey Brown as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Clarence will be held Friday, August 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, Mississippi 39209.
