Rob was born in Aberdeen, MS May 25, 1957, and the family moved to Jackson soon after. There he was a member of Parkway Baptist Church and graduated from Provine Highschool. In his youth he achieved Eagle Scout and became an accomplished pianist and began to play the organ. He received a degree from the College of Business and Industry at Mississippi State University. During this time, he began to play the organ regularly at First Baptist Church Starkville. After college, he moved back to Jackson and began work at the State Auditor’s office where he continued work throughout his career save one year that he was youth director at Saint Luke’s Methodist Church. Through the years he perfected his skills as an organist and played almost anywhere in the state that has an organ. Rob served as organist for many churches in the Jackson area and was highly sought after for weddings, funerals, and special ceremonies and services at churches of all denominations. He especially enjoyed his years at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral in Jackson. These engagements left him with volumes of stories with which to entertain family and friends. We will miss his colorful spin on all that life brought his way!
Rob is survived by his niece Maggie Ethridge (Phil), nephew John Wilson (Audrey), great nephew Wilson Ethridge, great nieces Miller, Eliza Grace, and Greta Ethridge, and his brother-in-law Fred Wilson, all of Madison, MS as well as many friends that were an extended family to him.
