Corky Sharp, age 77, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from Parkinson’s and heart disease. Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Funeral Home, Jackson on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM with visitation one-hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial.
Corky was born on September 10, 1940 in New Hebron, MS. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in Mathematics, he worked as a professional fundraiser for 15 years and retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation, where he was a transportation planner for close to 25 years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church, Jackson, MS.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Benton Sharp and Grace Disch Sharp; and his sister, Marla Jo Berry.
Corky is survived by his son, Joseph “Joe” Benton Sharp II and daughter, Elaine Sharp Saxton (Chris); and grandchildren, Ryan Christopher Saxton, Rachel Farrell Elizabeth Saxton, Josephine Grace Sharp and Mimi Elizabeth Sharp.
