Danny Earl Daves

Visitation will be Monday, June 22 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and Tuesday, June 23 at 9 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS. A Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, June 23 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.

Mr. Daves was born in Merigold, Mississippi, on July 16, 1940, to Upton and Juanita Daves. He was reared in the Merigold-Cleveland area, graduating from Cleveland High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Gwen Smith, whom he had known since the first grade. They were married over 55 years.

Danny was a man of few words, but the words he spoke were founded on truth and wisdom. He was a generous man who helped many people while expecting nothing in return. He was a gifted carpenter and builder who was respected for his craftsmanship and his integrity. He was an active member of Morrison Heights Baptist Church and the Glen Holmes Sunday School class.

Danny is survived by his wife, Gwen Smith Daves; his daughter, Dana (Billy) Elmore of Clinton; his son, Darryl (Myrna) Daves of Hernando; his grandchildren, Delaney, Zachary and Erika Daves, and Marie Vander Molen as well as a great grandchild, Kyle Elmore.

He is also survived by his sister, Donna (Gary) Sarver of Brandon; brothers, Eddie (Kay) Daves of Cleveland and Randy (Pam) Daves of Coffeeville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jetti Daves Ervin.
