November 29, 1938 - December 17, 2019
Dorothy "Dot" Parker, 81, of Peachtree Corners, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2019 at Legacy Ridge in Woodstock, Georgia.
Born "Dorothy Elaine Taylor" on November 29, 1938 in Jackson, Mississippi, Dot was the youngest of 6 children of the late William Roy and Muriel Anna Taylor. She graduated from Forest Hill High School in 1956 and attended Mississippi College while working toward a music degree. Dot was married to her loving husband, Charles "Barry" Parker, in Jackson, MS on October 24, 1964, and they enjoyed 37 years of marriage until his passing in 2001.
Dot worked as a bank teller in her earlier years, was a homemaker while their children were at home, and worked as a church secretary in her later years before retirement. She had a love of music and was the pianist at all of the churches that her family attended through the years. Dot was a member of Crossroads Church of Dunwoody (formerly North Peachtree Baptist Church) in Atlanta, GA. She also sang in the church choir for many years and played the piano for various ensembles at church.
"Nana", as she was affectionately known by all of her adored grandchildren, spent as much time with her grandchildren and all of her family as she was able. She cherished her many friends and enjoyed singing with them, playing games, garage sale-ing, and participating in many "Circle of Friends" events at church.
Dot is survived by her daughter, Penny Nordin (Lars) of Woodstock, GA; son, Brad Parker (Marlyn) of Canton, GA; four grandchildren: Caleb and Cara Parker and Lukas and Wyatt Nordin; brother, Bill Taylor (Lana) of Jackson, MS, sister-in-law, Alice Taylor of Jackson, MS; brother-in-law, Larry (Glenda) Parker of Jackson, MS; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family members, and beloved friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2019 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., with service immediately following at 3:00 p.m. at Crowell Brothers Funeral Home Peachtree Chapel, Peachtree Corners, GA. A graveside service will be held the following day on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Jackson, MS following a visitation time from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
