He married Rachel Andrews in 1955 in Jackson, and together they built a loving family with three boys, Doug, David, and Don. Douglas worked for many years for the Jackson Public School System, starting as a teacher and moving into the role of counselor at Provine High School. Douglas also served his country in the U.S. Army for 4 years and then transferred into the U.S. Air Force National Guard, rising to Technical Sergeant, before retiring after 20 years of service. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church.
He is preceded by his wife, Rachel Pyron, and son, Don Pyron.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Doug Pyron (Charity) of Madison, MS, and David Pyron (Linda) of Brandon, MS; and two grandsons, Ben Pyron and William Loyal Pyron.
A visitation for Douglas will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS 39209. A celebration of life will occur Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Lakewood Funeral Home with a burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Doug Pyron, David Pyron, Ben Pyron, Bo Wilson, Scott Wilson, and Ted Warren.
