Earnest Leon Martin, age 85, of Edwards, Mississippi passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 10:00 am with a visitation one hour prior at Jackson First, 6339 Highway 18 West, Jackson, MS 39209. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Earnest was born in Greenville, MS to the late Earnest Prentiss and Mamie Tucker Smith.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Earl (Merle) Martin and Dallas Wayne Martin; sister, Mary Alice Hood; son, Dale Martin. He is survived by his wife, Donnie Covey Martin; five children, Larry L. Martin of Edwards ( deceased wife, Angela), Earnest L. Martin of Edwards (Sandra), Kenneth Martin of Gluckstadt (Melissa), Donna Martin of Edwards (Chuck), Charlotte Upchurch of Edwards (Roger); adopted son, Frank Coizzo; sister, Patricia Ann Whitley; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers private donations may be made to the widow of Mr. Martin.
