

Edwin Hollis Bracey, "Ed", passed away surrounded by his family at the home of his daughter on Monday, April 9, 2012. He was 77. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 11:00am at Darbun Cemetery in Kokomo, MS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Wright & Ferguson funeral home on High Street in Jackson, MS.
Ed had fond memories of his childhood. He was reared on a dairy farm outside of Columbia, MS. He enjoyed drinking cane juice and watching his daddy make syrup. He was preceded in death by his father, Hollis Augustus Bracey; and his mother, Doris Grubbs Bracey.
He is survived by his daughter Emily Bracey Lewis and her husband, Paul; his brother, Larry Frank Bracey, and his wife, Ouida; his sister, Brenda Bracey Anthony, and her husband, Doyle; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ed loved anything outdoors, especially motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. His favorite sport was basketball. He enjoyed many of these activities with his uncles and cousins. He inherited his "can do" attitude from Hollis, his dad. Ed accepted the free gift of salvation by Faith in The Lord Jesus Christ around the age of 10. He grew up in Magee's Creek Baptist Church. Ed was a generous man who had a passion for entrepreneurial endeavors and was a business owner for 40 years.
