

Elaine Lee Stevenson, 87 of Jackson, MS passed away December 10th 2012. Funeral visitation will be at Wright and Ferguson (High Street) on Thursday December 13th from 5:00pm- 8:00pm and Friday December 14th from 9:00am-10:00am. The funeral will be held in the Wright and Ferguson Chapel on Friday December 14th at 10:00am.
She was born in Silver Creek, MS on February 19th 1925. Elaine graduated from Monticello High School in 1942. After graduation she moved to Savannah, Georgia to work then later returned to MS to attend and graduate from Hinds Junior College in 1947. At Hinds Junior College Elaine, was honorably selected by her distinguished peers as Miss Hinds Junior College. Also while attending Hinds Junior College; she was President of the Baptist Student Union, President of the Y.W.C.A , an honor roll student, and member of the girls basketball team. She was a live wire in most organizations at Hinds Junior College and also a team member (shortstop), of the championship winning team “The Southern Belle’s”, a team of the Jackson Women’s Commercial Softball League. On December 16, 1951 Elaine, married William P. Stevenson, of Raymond at First Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. She was a mother, homemaker, and longtime, as well as active member of both Capitol Street United Methodist Church and Galloway United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS.
Elaine was preceded in death by her son, William “Billy” P. Stevenson, Jr.; mother and father, Mr. Mac L. Lee and Mrs. Elsie T. Lee; her siblings Bunah “Dinah” Lee Latham, Girault Lee, Druie Lee, Leonard Lee, Jack Lee, and Bill Lee.
She is survived by her loving husband William P. Stevenson; Daughter Lee Ann S. Wilson; Granddaughter Charli Wilson; and Sister Fay Lee Ivey.
