Eleanor is now face to face with our Lord Jesus, whom she loved deeply and served faithfully. She passed on from natural causes surrounded by loving family and friends at 98 years young.
Born in Seminary, MS, to Charles Eugene Crosby and Lessie Mitchell Crosby, she was the middle child of five incredible sisters. Upon graduation she worked for the MS State Health Department in Collins, MS, until the end of World War II. She then married Mack Leon Graham after his return from service in the
U. S. Navy; their journey as a loving and devoted couple took them to Chicago, IL, and Rhode Island before they permanently returned to Mississippi in 1948, settling in Jackson to raise their family.
Eleanor chose to be a full-time mother and wife supporting her husband, nurturing her children, and serving through her church family at Alta Woods Baptist Church. As a member of the MS Homemaker Volunteers, she worked alongside other dear ladies on hand-sewing and quilting projects to help meet the needs of her community in the greater Jackson area. She was widely known for her excellent cooking and has won Blue Ribbon Medals at the MS State Fair for her pralines and divinity. Her other passion was Scrabble, which led to her joining the MS Scrabble Club from the 1970s through the 2010s and became a treasured part of her life. Eleanor’s gift of wit, laughter, hospitality, and selflessness drew people in and made them extended family, resulting in her becoming an adopted grandmother to so many she enfolded with her love and care.
Most cherished to Eleanor’s heart was her Lord, her precious husband, and her family. She will be forever remembered for her steadfast, patient, and deep love for them which has set an incredible testimony for what a godly wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend looks like. Mack Graham treasured Eleanor all of their 57 years of marriage and her family walks in his footsteps. She was an incredible woman blessed with a faith that was strong through all seasons.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents Charles E. Crosby and Lessie M. Crosby; her beloved husband, Mack L. Graham; 3 of her sisters, Charlene C. Lamberson, Pat C. Gill Bihm, and Joyce C. Thames.
She is survived by God’s blessings of her children Janice G. Johnson, Karen G. Warren (Jay), and Gary Mack Graham; her four grandchildren Dana W. Marchant (Bill), Tye R. Warren (Emily), W. Webb Warren, II (Malies), and Leslie J. Allen (Jeff); her ten wonderful great-grandchildren; and her precious sister, Jackie C. Daniel of Seminary.
Eleanor requested to tell her family and friends how much she loved and appreciated each and every one of them. The family would like to say a special thank you to Lisa Edwards and her coworkers as well as Traditions Health who walked alongside us so that we could honor our Mamaw by allowing her to remain in her home with us until she was escorted to her eternal Home by our Lord Jesus. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Lakewood Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 pm. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
