Eugenia Inez Thompson

Eugenia Inez Waldrup Thompson, 86 died Wednesday January 12, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Saturday January 15, 2011 from the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home High Street. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00pm till 7:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am till 11:00am at Wright & Ferguson. Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Thompson was a native of Vaughn, Mississippi. She had lived in the Jackson area since the end of WWII. Mrs. Thompson had the distinguished honor of being the first woman from Mississippi sworn into the Navy Waves and served her country during WWII. Along with her husband, she was a founding member of Alta Woods United Methodist Church. Her husband J.B. Thompson Jr. preceded her in death.

Mrs. Thompson loved gardening and was an active member of the Reservoir Garden Club. She was also a founding member of developing the Botanical Gardens at the Reservoir.

Survivors include her sons, Mike Thompson, Larry Thompson, Steve Thompson and Greg Thompson, a daughter Barbara Thompson, two Sisters Mary Eaves, and Sylvia Thornton, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
