George Daniel Schultz, Jr. 86, died Friday, March 12, 2021 at Plainview Assisted Living in Richland, MS where he has resided since June 2018. Funeral services for family and friends will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Visitation beginning at 9:00 AM and services beginning at 11:00 AM.
Mr. Schultz was born on September 5, 1934 in Jackson, MS. He graduated from Forest Hill High School, Hinds Jr. College and attended Mississippi State University. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Lewis. He worked for Mississippi Valley Gas company and retired after 47 years. He was a charter member of Alta Woods Baptist Church and served as Sunday School Teacher in the Youth Department. He sang in the Alta Woods Choir and also with the Joyful Singers. He enjoyed coaching baseball and softball for his children and grandchildren. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He especially loved his Alta Woods Church family and above all, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Plainview Assisted Living and Heart of Hospice that were in charge of his care.
Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Lewis Schultz; parents, George D. and Della Schultz, Sr. and brother, Robert Schultz. Mr. Schultz is survived by his brother, Jack Schultz (Sandy); sister, Patsy Schultz Meacham; son, Stan Schultz (Deborah); daughters, Judy Dees (Rusty), Linda Jackson (Ross), Connie Irby (Mike); nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
