Helen Castilaw Thompson

She married Louis L. (Tommy) Thompson on December 15, 1948, and was married for 76 years. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. They had five children: Cathie, Virgil (VT), Melanie, Cyndi, and Chris.

She loved working in her flower beds, making floral arrangements, and decorating her home. She also enjoyed sewing, making clothes, and swimming. She enjoyed being a homemaker and her family and friends. She always looked her best when she went out.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tommy, son Chris, sister Evelyn Fay Williamson, and brother James Castilaw.

Helen is survived by her children, Cathie Banks (Roy), Virgil (VT)

Thompson (Robin), Melanie Carter (Walter), Cyndi Cavanaugh; grandchildren Cylena Knowles, Morgan Brett Pierce (Andrew), Amy Masters (Justin), Shane Thompson (Laura), Shannan Fuller (Scott), Ashlie Holt, Wilkes Carter (Courtney), Paul Carter, Brooke Carter, and Justin Thompson, 15 great-grandchildren, and 7 great great-grandchildren with two on the way.

Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home, 6011 Clinton Blvd, on March 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Lakewood Funeral Home, beginning at 11:30 a.m. A Committal Service will take place at Lakewood Memorial Park-South, 430 McClure Rd, Jackson, MS 39212.
