James H. Miller, Jr., 89, passed away on January 30, 2022 at his home in Byram. Visitation will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Friday, February 4 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Miller was born on May 27, 1932 in Louisville, MS to the late James H. Miller, Sr. and Pearl Chamblee Miller. He proudly served his country in the US Army. He retired from Jackson Municipal Garage in 1995 where he worked for 34 years. Mr. Miller was a member of the James A. Myers Masonic Lodge and Wahabi Shriners (Go Cart Unit). He was a member at the American Legion Post #67, where he spent time fishing at The Rocks (Ross Barnett Reservoir), his home-away-from-home.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Faye Dempsey; wife of 25 years, Gladys Sullivan; and sister, Yvonne Young.
Mr. Miller is survived by his children, Teresa Watson (Mitch) and Denise Walley (Mike); step-children, Gwen Sullivan Magee (Tommy) and Garry Sullivan (Sheila); grandchildren, Mandy Watson McCool (Ryan), Marc Watson, Jennifer Walley Boen (Nick), Shanna Walley Stowe (Wesley); step-grandchildren, Johnny Milling (Candee), Joshua Sullivan, Tiffany Sullivan Kemp (Justin), Katye Magee, Trista Magee Whitman (Cole); great grandchildren, Cooper and Eli Boen, Grant Stowe, Alannah, Samuel and Caitlin McCool, Nathaniel Watson; step-great grandchildren, Rhaly and Ramsey Milling and Jasper Kemp.
