

Wayne moved to Jackson to work and met Martha Shuler. He was drafted into the Army and served in Vietnam. His military history includes Co.B, 9th Battalion, 2nd Training Brigade, Fort Jackson, SC; B-9-2- number 1 second to none; Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Jackson, SC, Fort Ord, California; 3rd Field Hospital, Saigon Run; Camp Drake, Tokyo, Japan; Maxwell A.E.B, Montgomery, Alabama; Keesler A.E.B, Biloxi, MS; Fort Rucker, Alabama; Fort Carson, Colorado 5th Infantry Mechanic, Colorado Springs; Simmons General Hospital, Denver Colorado and Fort Campbell KY Examination.
When he came home he married Martha Shuler with whom he shared 50 years together. They had one child, Kathy and one granddaughter, Lily.
Wayne was a kind, loving, caring person. He was always willing to help people, especially the Veterans. Everyone who knew him knew that he liked to joke around. He always had an audience. He was a loving father and papaw. He had one sister, Nadine Cochran, one brother, Joe Blair and many, many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Lawrence Wayne will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home and Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Interment at Lakewood Memorial Park.
