Lois Bernice Roberts Byrd

Bernice was the seventh of eleven children born to James Reed Roberts and Elmyra Cain Roberts of Soddy, TN. She was very bright and enjoyed book keeping as a vocation. Bernice married Lawrence Robert Byrd and together they had five children. Her greatest joy resided in her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a wonderful cook and her family enjoyed many delicious meals and treats served from her table. Bernice was passionate about reading and encouraged all of her family to read as well. She was a member of Lakeland Presbyterian Church in Flowood, MS.

Survivors include her two daughters, Rita B. Hillman of Flowood, MS, Lois B. Carman (Jimmy) of Florence, MS, two sons, Lawrence Robert Byrd Jr. of Livingston, LA, Randy Byrd of Brandon, MS, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Sister, Pat R. Sully (Charles) of Doraville, GA and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Robert Byrd, Sr. and son Stephen Howard Byrd; her parents; eight sisters and one brother.

Private family grave side service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Blvd.

Her family would like to thank the patient and caring staff at Brandon Court for the kindness given to Birdie.
