Mrs. Marie Butler

Marie Butler passed away peacefully on October 25th surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on July 7, 1928 in Hickory, MS to the late, Johnnie Thomas and Bessie Mae Ivy Harris. She married Bill Butler on October 2, 1955. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Lakewood Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park.

She was the epitome of a southern lady. She was gracious, kind, generous and a very special friend to many. She was a competitor in her youth and excelled at basketball. She loved music, dancing, bowling, bridge, visiting with friends, creating and designing floral arrangements, cross stitch, reading, cooking and playing games with her family. She was a faithful member of Alta Woods Baptist Church and loved her Sunday School class. Marie was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Butler; son, Johnnie "Rusty" Russell Butler (Cathy Cooke Butler); daughter, Lisa Renee Butler Barnhill (Jerry Barnhill); grandchildren, John Butler, Mallorie Butler Geraci (Steven), Ryan Barnhill, and Kristen Barnhill Scott (Trey). She is preceded in death by a brother. She is also survived by two sisters; one brother and many nieces and nephews.
