Michael D. Avenmarg (Mike), 75, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 in Jackson, MS, after a brave, 2-year battle with cancer. His funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in the outdoor pavilion at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, MS.
Mr. Avernmarg was born on July 25, 1945 in Jackson, MS to Mr. Richard L. Avenmarg and Dorothy Boyd Avenmarg of Jackson, MS. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, and always provided awesome comic relief to all who knew him.
Mr. Avenmarg graduated from Provine High School in 1963. He enlisted in the U.S Air Force as a Security Policeman Sentry Dog Handler. During his 4 years of service, he served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic, Commercial Pilot, Air Traffic Controller, and retired in 2011 after a long successful career with L3 Communications. He loved bass fishing, singing, spending time outdoors, and taking road trips on his Harley. He was an active member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church and easily shared his Christian faith with others throughout his lifetime.
Mr. Avenmarg was married to his first love, Sherry A. Avenmarg on June 22, 1968. After 42 years of marriage, raising 2 children, she went home to be with The Lord. Marrying his cherished wife, Lyn Gray Avenmarg on November 10, 2012, they had many adventures around the world making fond memories, including his favorite trip to Ireland.
Mr. Avenmarg was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Tommy D. Avenmarg, and first wife. He is survived by his wife, Lyn Gray Avenmarg of Florence, MS; Daughters: Brooke (Gino) Reinhart of Sugar Hill, GA, Alishia (Wil) Sexton of Dallas, GA, and Lisa (Tony) Wilburn of Madison, MS; Sons: Josh (Leah) Avenmarg of Petal, MS, and Russell (Kat) Bates of Honolulu, HI; Grandchildren: Noelle (Justin) Theis, Blake Avenmarg, Major Reinhart, Aven Reinhart, Caden Sexton, Josh Sexton, Titan Bates and Ava Bates; Great-Grandchild: George Theis.
