Royce Gene Fivecoat of Pearl passed peacefully at home on Friday, July 11th, 2025, with family by his side. He was 88.
Mr. Fivecoat was born October 7th, 1936, in Dallas, Texas. The son of Ross & Elizabeth Fivecoat, he graduated from Forest Avenue High School and quickly thereafter enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After proudly serving his country, he married Susan Rowlen on January 30th, 1960. They moved to his hometown of Dallas, Texas, to start their life together. He began working for BellSouth, and they had two sons, Michael Jay and Phillip Trent. After 13 years in Dallas the family moved to Jackson, Mississippi. He continued working for BellSouth for over 30 years.
A family man first, he enjoyed a simple cup of coffee in the morning and cheering on his Texas Longhorns. Known as “Papa” to his grandchildren, he loved nothing more than spending time with them. They were his pride and joy.
His memory is carried on by his sons, Michael Jay Fivecoat (Marie) and Phillip Trent Fivecoat (Kameron), five grandchildren – Kayla, Makinzie, Brandon, Addison, and Mallory - as well as five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Fivecoat; parents, Ross & Elizabeth Fivecoat; sister, Betty Bailey and her husband Howell; and grandson, Devin Fivecoat.
