I have numerous memories of Aunt Betty. One of my favorites is when you hosted me while my family was packing up to move from Kontagora to Kaduna. Aunt Betty sang a sweet song which I thought was of someone talking to "Kay Sarah." The next day when I asked her if she would please sing that song again, it turned out to be "Que Sera, Sera." I think that was my first introduction to Spanish! Of course I remember her beautiful artwork painted on the wall of "the Merritt house" in Kaduna. I also remember that she was very patient even when in pain. Aunt Betty has (present tense) a beautiful personality and is so gentle and kind. I'm using present tense because I know that "God is not the God of the dead but of the living" and that she is alive and well in the presence of Jesus.
I love you all and think of you often.

Hi Dewey and Mary Ann,
My parents, Helen and Straughan Richardson loved knowing you! Our entire family admired your family's missionary spirit and devotion to the Lord.
Betty will remain in our memory forever.
God bless a wonderful servant of the Lord, wife and mother.

I was blessed to be a part of a Sunday School class at Second Baptist Church (RVA) taught by Betty and Dewey. That class and their combined teaching was a special time each week for me. I rarely missed the opportunity to be there on Sunday morning.
During that time I had to deal with cancer having a mastectomy followed by Chemotherapy treatments. Betty was so kind and supportive to me and I have always appreciated her care for me during a difficult time. I remember awaking from a nap in the hospital to a note from Betty that she had left on my blanket.
