Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held the same day from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Lakewood Funeral Home.
Mr. Morrison was born on October 25, 1938, in Jackson, MS, to the late T.W. Morrison and Mildred Morrison. He grew up in Utica, MS, and while attending the University of Southern Mississippi, he met Julia E. McCall. They married on August 22, 1958, at Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS, and made their home in Jackson and later Brandon.
A devoted man of faith, Mr. Morrison was a longtime member of Van Winkle Baptist Church, Church of the Highlands, and Pinelake Church. He worked several decades with Southern Farm Bureau and loved coaching youth baseball and softball. He cherished time spent with his family, church community, and the Truthseekers, and he was a lifelong supporter of the Ole Miss Rebels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.W. and Mildred Morrison, and his wife of 63 years, Julia (Betty) E. Morrison.
He is survived by his son, Richard Morrison and wife, Heather of Brandon, MS; his daughter, Beth Moore and husband, Greg of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Corey Moore of Detroit, MI; Austin Moore of Hernando, MS; Peyton Moore of Murfreesboro, TN; Katelyn Shelton and husband, Brandon of Tupelo, MS; Chase Morrison of Ridgeland, MS; Watson Burch of Starkville, MS; and Walker Burch of Oxford, MS; and one great-grandchild, John Bryer Shelton of Tupelo, MS.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to friends, caregivers, and church members who supported Mr. Morrison and his family with love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pinelake Church Care Center Reservoir Campus.
