

Born to B. Brantley Brooks and Wilma Van Dusen Brooks, Van lived a life marked by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a Military Police officer and later built a 35-year career with Bell South before retiring.
Van is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Bobbye Faye Brooks, and his daughters Cindy McGuire (Terry) and Dawn Donald (Robert). He was a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy in his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Van Brooks II and David Alderman.
Van will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his gentle sense of humor. His legacy of love, strength, and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
A pavilion service for Van will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 6000 Clinton Blvd., Jackson, Mississippi 39209. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Van’s remarkable life.
