

Wanda Franklin Park, 70, of Ridgeland, MS, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be held Monday, January 21, at Broadmoor Baptist Church Highland Colony Parkway in Madison from 9-11 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Wright and Ferguson Highland Colony in Madison immediately following the service.
Wanda was born in Clarksdale, MS to Nolan and Mottie Franklin and lived in Clarksdale before moving to Jackson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Wallace Franklin and husband of 48 years, Bobby George Park, Sr. She is survived by her son Bobby George Park, Jr. (Tracy Logan Park) of Brandon; daughter Melanie Gail Park of Ridgeland; grandchildren Ty Park and Rivers Park of Brandon; sister Peggy Alligood of Orlando, FL; brothers Bobby Franklin (Joann Hannaford Franklin) of Senatobia and Larry Franklin (Rosey Bain Franklin) of Duck Hill; nephews Bruce Plunkett (Joyce McEwin Plunkett) of Madison, Charles Plunkett (Shannon Doyle Plunkett) of Jackson, Ray Franklin (Jennifer Poteat Franklin) of Charlotte, NC, Sid Franklin (Tammy Durley Franklin) of Southaven, Kelvin Brown of Washington, DC, and Prentiss Franklin of Jackson; nieces Cynthia Kelley (Terry Kelley) of Orlando, FL, Lisa Brown of Orlando, FL, Sandy Gannaway (Jeff Gannaway) of Tunica, Jennifer Franklin Sylvester of Grenada and Ashley Franklin Beale (John Beale) of Senatobia; and father-in- law Jack Richardson of Yazoo City.
Wanda attended Mississippi College. After college she worked at Broadmoor Baptist Church and was a long-time employee of Jackson Preparatory School in External Affairs. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church at the Northside Drive location, and later was part of the relocation to Madison. She was a proud member of the choir and many different groups within. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. They always knew she would be at any dance competition or ballgame they were involved in cheering them on. She loved her work at Jackson Prep and cherished the many wonderful friends she made there over the years. She was an active member of Executive Women's International where she also made many friends and important business contacts. Wanda was a woman of strong Christian faith, ethical business practices and integrity in all endeavors of life. She will be remembered for her strong positive outlook on life no matter the challenges before her, the vibrant tenacity that she approached each day with, and the many people she touched and encouraged each and every day of her life. Wanda will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
