

Jackson, MS - William David “Mack” McMullin, 95, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS after a lengthy illness. He was born November 3, 1921 to Kate Noblin and Robert Lee McMullin of Pheba, MS. He retired from the C & G Railway in Columbus, MS as the Superintendent of Transportation on September 30, 1983 after a 43 year career. He was a World War II Army veteran having reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and served in India with the Burlington 745th Railway Battalion. Mack was also a Korean War Navy veteran. As a ship’s Yeoman he was at sea the majority of his Navy tour. While in Columbus, he was a member of First Methodist Church, Founders’ Club and the Lions Club. Some of his hobbies included fishing, dancing and supper club. Services will be held on February 4, 2017 in the chapel of Hospice Ministries located at 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will begin at 11:00 with a memorial service immediately following at 11:45. The Rev. Barry Male of Madison United Methodist Church, Madison, MS will officiate. Survivors include his wife of over 70 years, Sue Gregory McMullin, 93, two children, William David “Bill” McMullin, Jr. (Vanita) of Madison, MS and Lynda McMullin Steadman (Mike) of Jackson, MS, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings all from Mississippi. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Scott Layne and Chris Funkhouser, NP of St. Dominics Medical Assoc., Jackson, MS, Dr. McKamy Smith, retired, Jackson Heart, Jackson, MS, Dr. James Mack and Rebecca Clanton, NP of the VA Hospital, Jackson, MS, Charlotte, Debbie and the staff of Riggs Manor, Raymond, MS, the doctors and staff of Lakeland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, MS, the doctors and staff of Hospice Ministries, Ridgeland, MS, Columbus and Greenville Railway employees and retirees, Sidney and Mary Thompson, Columbus, MS, Mary Nelson, Raymond, MS, Janet Kinsman of Alabama, The Ivey Family and an extensive list of friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hospice Ministries Inc., 450 Towne Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
