

Billy lost his battle with cancer and Parkinson, February 15 at 4:35 a.m., at the age of 73 with his family by his side. He loved his family, especially his grandkids. He was the son of the late Harvey and Tommie Cotner. He was always there to help them. He was a good and loving son throughout their lives.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Jackson. He was an active Deacon until his health declined and later a Deacon Emeritus. He loved his church and his Life Group. He went on several mission trips to Brazil. He was a member of The Disaster Relief Team. He was also a member of The Barnabus Bible Study group. He loved his friends. He was always happy when helping someone.
He had been a member of St. John 332 Mason Lodge for fifty years. He had just received his fifty year pin and certificate. He was an avid writer and had many articles published in magazines and one article published in a book composed of local writers. He retired from Consolidated Aluminum after twenty five years of service.
He leaves to share wonderful memories, his wife of fifty-one years, Juanita, two daughters, Kim Lowe (David), Hollie Lowe (John) and four wonderful grandchildren, Garrett, Sydney, Jameson and Kaden.
He was from a close family of five brothers and two sisters, Jimmy Cotner, deceased, Christine LaPorte, deceased (Art), Mary Helen Recker, deceased (Harry), Charles Cotner, deceased (Ann), Douglas Cotner, Larry Cotner (Donna), Stanley Cotner (Laura), Donna Harrison Cotner, close family member, many nieces, nephews, and one sister-in-law, Dianne Ferguson.
We want to thank all of our wonderful family and friends for all the support during Billy’s illness. I would also like to thank all my Facebook friends that were dedicated prayer warriors, West Tennessee Hospice team for their loving care.
Visitation will be Friday, February 17 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel. Funeral services will be at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel, February 18 at 1 pm with Dr. Justin Wainscott, Pastor, First Baptist Church, Jackson, officiating. Private family ceremony to be held at Browns Church Cemetery.
