

Carolyn is survived by her husband of more than 61 years, Ira, and by her two sons Wilburn (wife Susan and their daughter Amanda) and Danny, as well as by her sister Ruth Cook Richards. She also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews and in-laws and their extended families.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Hershall and Oma Cook as well as by five other siblings.
Carolyn was born August 28, 1935 in Dyersburg, TN. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful servant until her death. She loved to sing and was active in her church choirs until late in life and served for many years as a children’s Sunday School teacher at various churches. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, she said that she wanted others to know that “She was a child of the King who loved her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.” Also, “She loved her husband and her family more than words can express."
The family will welcome visitors on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at George A. Smith and Sons North Chapel located at 2812 North Highland in Jackson, TN. A short visitation will also occur from 9:00 am Monday morning until the beginning of the funeral service at 10:00 am. A brief graveside service will commence at 2:00 pm Monday at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, TN with interment to follow.
The Barnabus Men’s group at First Baptist Church of Jackson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to First Baptist Church in Jackson, TN.
