Charles was born on June 16, 1927 in Hardeman County, TN, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Emerson Canovan. He walked tall, did what was right, helped anyone who was in need, wasn’t afraid to take a hard stand for what he believed in and was a straight shooter when you talked to him. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Canovan; and son, Steve Canovan.
He is survived by his son, Jeff (Ron) Canovan; granddaughter, Jill Canovan; grandson, Tommy Canovan; and great granddaughter, Mikaela Canovan.
The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 12-2 p.m. at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Due to road conditions, burial will be at New Union Cemetery at a later date.
