Frances Inez Thompson Burke, 92, of Collierville died on March 22, 2017. She was born August 4, 1924, the youngest child of James O. Thompson and Mary Frances Parrish Thompson of Medina, TN, who preceded her in death. She grew up in Jackson in a very close-knit family of five sisters and one brother who all preceded her in death.
She was happily married to Edward Charles Burke, originally from Buffalo, NY, for 59 years until his death October 15, 2001.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Edward Charles Burke, Jr. of Memphis, and two daughters Deborah Burke Bolton (Gary) of Collierville, and Elizabeth (Beth) Burke Abrahams (Joe) of Memphis.
She was lovingly called Mimi by her grandchildren Matthew Burke Bolton and Jeffrey Randolph Bolton of Collierville, and Ashley Abrahams Tenent (Parker), Joseph Warrington Abrahams (Julie), and Logan Burke Abrahams (Rachel) of Memphis.
She loved to be surrounded by her great grandchildren Olivia Grace Bolton, Jeffrey Randolph Bolton, Jr., Parker Dixon Tenent, Jr., Elizabeth Crawford Tenent, Abrahams Whitfield Tenent, Joseph Warrington Abrahams, Jr. and Emma Kathryn Abrahams. They had a very special place in her heart and she in theirs.
She moved from Jackson to Memphis in 2009 to be close to her children and grandchildren. In 2015 she moved to Hearthside Senior Living in Collierville where she resided until her death.
Her life was a wonderful example of how we should treat each other. She reached out to everyone she met and was quick to make new friends. She was gracious, loving, kind, caring and loved her family and friends with all her heart. She loved God and was anxious to be with Him.
