Fred Harold Bowman

Mr. Fred Harold Bowman, age 88 of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at his residence in Jackson.He was born on July 16, 1927 in Madison County, TN to the late Dallas and Lela Walker Bowman. He graduated from Beech Bluff High School in 1945 and married Gertrude Williams on March 6, 1948 in Alcorn County, MS. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Jackson City Schools and was a member of East Union Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Williams Bowman; sister, Margaret Richardson, and an infant brother, Dennis Rafe Bowman. He is survived by his children, Vickie Coplin (Mike) of Beech Bluff and son, Danny Bowman (Jimmie Kay) of Jackson; grandchildren, Matt Bowman (Valerie) of Toccoa, GA, Amy DuBose (Jacob) of Jackson, Luke Coplin (Lindsey) of Memphis, and Dallas Coplin (Courtney) of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Julia and Audrey Bowman, Brodye and Eli DuBose, and Adele, Annalyn, and Archer Coplin; sister, Avis Stewart; brothers, Jimmy and Mearl Bowman of Jackson; and special friend, Helen Bridges.Funeral services for Mr. Bowman will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 12 Noon at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons, with Bros. Edgar Pierce and Matt Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, August 29, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at 12 p.m., two hours prior to the service.
