

Mr. H. P. Curlin passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 10th 2011, at 2:00 pm in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Bro. Dan Bruce Officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Haywood County.
Mr. Curlin was born on March 28th, 1923 in Madison County to the late Harvey P., and Hannah Dickinson Curlin, and was married for 67 years to the late Charlene Barnette Curlin.
Other than Mr. Curlin’s parents, and wife he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Earnestine Curlin Massey, Edith Curlin Boggs, one brother Robert Taylor Curlin, and one niece, Joanne Curlin Wilson.
H.P served in the Navy during World War II, and worked for the Jackson Police Department with 42 years of Service, until retiring in 1989 with the rank of Deputy Chief. Mr. Curlin was a member of the Masonic Lodge #332, Lifetime member of the Jackson Police Association, Retired Police Association, and The Fraternal Order of Police. He also was a Charter, and the oldest Member of the Forked River Coon Club.
He is survived by 2 Daughters; Judith Tanner, and Becky McKown (wife to the late Blake McKown) both of Jackson, 3 Grandchildren; Christopher Curlin Tanner (Allison) of Franklin, Andrew Scott Tanner of Brentwood, and Blair Mckown Woodward (Eric) of Nashville, 1 Great Granddaughter; Sarah Tanner, 7 Nieces; Carol Curlin White (Bordon), Emma Jean Vailes (Don), Jane Sonnefeld, Theresa Kelly, Carolyn Massey Cochran, Nancy Jo Massey, Linda Webb, and 5 Nephews; Eugene Curlin (JoAnn), Harvey Lee Curlin (Betty), Glenn Curlin (Kathy), Jimmy Boggs (Lacinda), and William S. Massey Jr.
Active Pallbearers to serve will be the Grandsons, and Nephews, Honorary Pallbearers are Ashley Tanner, Jackson Police Department, Rick Staples, Sherriff David Woolfork, Dr. James Diffee, Jack A. Smith, and W. Jerry Smith.
The family requests Memorial Donations in Mr. Curlin’ s memory be made to Woodland Cemetery c/o Ilene Barcroft, 955 Hubert Barcroft Rd, Brownsville, TN 38012
A Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 10th 2011 at the North Chapel from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm
