I first met Larry in 1976 at Lemoore, Ca.  Over the next 43+ years he became the best friend a man could ever have.  I did not learn of his ALS diagnosis until last year a few months prior to his 75th birthday party.  Although we only had a short time after that we did manage to share some of the good times of the past years.  I will miss my friend very much, but as his brother Dale said:  The memories will be with me forever.  Fair winds and following seas my friend, I love and miss you.

I met Larry a couple of years ago. He called up my office and said he read a story in the newspaper about an organization helping homeless veterans and he could help. Once we met in person he was more than willing to do what he could to help our veterans and that he did. After that Larry would come into the office bringing us beef jerky and telling us stories. He was a wonderful human being and I am so grateful he called my line the day he did. My condolences go out to Shirley and the rest of the Joyner family. He helped so many and has shown such compassion to those in need. I am truly blessed to have known Larry. 

DARTS WERE A FAVORITE COUPLE CHALLENGE. AFTER A FEW WINS BY THE FERRELLS,   LARRY DECLARED THAT THE FERRELLS WOULD HAVE TO BE SEPARATED. THAT IS A DECISION HE WOULD LATER REGRET, SINCE I, PATTY, AM AN ERRATIC DART PLAYER AT BEST. THANKS FOR THE GOOD TIMES!!

LARRY AND I USED TO SIT ON THE PATIO AND SHARE A TODDY OR TWO AND SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS OF THE WORLD. OUR ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT NOBODY WOULD LISTEN TO US.

Someone once said, “The idea is to die young as late as possible”.  Larry’s life illustrated that sentiment.  He was the most amazing storyteller I’ve ever met.  With a twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes, he would spin up a story of his youth that would simply leave you mesmerized.  Of course, the more incredulous the story, the more likely it was true.
I first met Larry when I was in the 3rd grade (8 years old) when his daughter Jana invited me to spend the night.  What I remember most about that first meeting, was Jana running towards her “Daddy” as soon as he walked through the door, jumping into his arms and him spinning her around.  Now keep in mind, I  was only 8 years old.  I guess the spinning around could have been him trying not to fall over as his daughter lunged her body into his arms 😊.  What I am absolutely certain of, is the look of love on his face as he caught and held his daughter in his arms.  I didn’t realize then what an impactful moment that was (did I mention I was only 8), but looking back that was the first time I witnessed what it truly meant to be a Daddy’s girl.  That look of unconditional, I’ll love you always and forever kind of love.
I will forever be grateful that I was able to reconnect with the family over the last several years.  The Joyner family Alaskan cruise was certainly a highlight.  Larry, that night that you and I spent in the “Mistress Bar” will forever be one of my favorite memories.  It was worth all of the trouble we got in.
I love you forever!

For those of you who actually know me, you know I'm a VERY private person. I hate talking about what i have going on. I normally bury things down and try to deal with it on my own terms. But i recently realized that this doesn't have to do with me. This has to deal with remembering one of the best and most caring men I have ever known. My grandfather passed away last Tuesday. He lived one of the most full lives you could possibly imagined and did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. The man that traveled the world, told the best stories, gave the best advice. The one to sit down this hoodlum skateboarder at 18 years old with nothing going for him and help get my life on track. The man that helped anyone he could and who loved his family unconditionally, welcomed anyone without second thoughts. Worked harder than anyone I ever met. Loved more than anyone I've ever met. Made the BEST beef jerky anyone would ever eat. Made me watch him do donuts in his mustang just because. Helped anyone at all if they needed help. Anyone that met him has nothing but good things to say. #fuckALS

Many of you may be aware but a lot of you still are not that my grandfather passed this last week after losing his battle to ALS. He lived a life that many of us wish we could have lived. He did what he wanted when he wanted. He worked tirelessly and loved unconditionally. He might not have been aware, but the path I chose in life was greatly influenced by him. He taught me the work I do is a direct reflection on oneself. Whether that is good or bad is dependent on you. He taught me that there's nothing more beautiful then something you make with your own hands, which includes the memories you forge with your friends and family. I want nothing more for him to still be with us, but instead I have to strive to be someone that he is proud of. I love you grandpa Joe. Fair winds and fallowing seas, Master Chief. Rest in peace. I have the watch now.

Larry you will always be in my heart 💓 and I will never forget you. My prayers are with your family 🙏. 

If you knew Larry, then you don’t have just one memory.
He was a hard worker and would help anyone in need.
His family was everything to him and he love family gatherings.
Most any day you could friends or family sitting on the patio having a rum and coke.
He was my soul mate and I feel so lost without but I know we will be together in heaven.
