

Nellie Frances Mayo, age 82, a resident of Hernando, Mississippi passed from this life and entered into her new life with Jesus Christ on November 29, 2024 at Desoto Baptist Memorial Hospital- Hospice in Southaven, Mississippi.
She was a devoted wife of 57 years to Teddy Ray Mayo, Loving mother to Samantha Ann Mayo-Smith, beloved Grandmother to Ethan Avery Smith (21) and Shelby Parker Smith (18). She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Gordon, Jackie, Roy, Larry and Bobby Stoner. Survived by one sister, Karen Adams, as well as many nieces, nephews, Sister and Brother-in-laws that she loved.
She lived for Jesus and her family, leaving a legacy of a life lived in love. Never meeting a stranger, she was interested in the life details of those she met. A humble and kind spirit, always putting others first, endeared her to many. Her hobbies included making beautiful Christmas ornaments for those she came to know infusing them with love and care for those receiving them. Nellie retired as a billing specialist for Methodist Hospital after 20 years of service, working tirelessly to help bring financial relief to those who had experienced the worst.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. “He who does not Love does not know God for God is Love” 1 John 4:8.
A Celebration of Life will be held for friends in this area on December 13, 2024. We will have a gathering in the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church Senatobia, 317 S Ward St., Senatobia, Mississippi, starting at 11:00 am with a memorial to follow at 12:00 pm.
Additionally, a Celebration of Life will be held on December 14, 2024 for family and friends at George A Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 2812 N Highland Ave, Jackson, TN 38305. We will gather at 1:00 pm with a memorial to follow at 2:00 pm.
