

Funeral services for Mr. Sumler will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 1 p.m., in the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home, with Interment to follow in Roby Cemetery in Chester County, TN.
David was born on March 19, 1951 in Jackson, TN to the late Roy Nelizo Sumler and Gertrude Elizabeth Loyd Scott. He worked as a security guard for Allied Barton. Mr. Sumler was a good, Christian man. Known by everyone as a simple man, he was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. He had the heart of a gardener, nurturing plants, as well as others, in their time of need. He was a man everyone loved and will be missed dearly.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Boyd Scott; three sisters, Joyce King, Gennie Crow, and Nancy Dawson; and one brother, Ronnie Sumler
He is survived by three sisters, Carol Black of Phoenix, AZ, Peggy King of Jackson, TN and Bonnie New of Pinson, TN; twelve nephews and five nieces.
The family wishes to thank Frankie Lax for being such a good friend to David, and his niece, Freida Tucker, for being a comforter and source of strength to David.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. till the funeral hour at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons Funeral Home.
