Funeral services for Vergie Gracie Dowdy age 95 were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Big Springs Methodist Church in Hardeman County. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Dowdy the widow of Robert Dowdy passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Forest Cove Nursing Center in Jackson, TN.
Mrs. Dowdy was born in Hardeman County, Tennessee on April 8, 1915 the daughter of the late Monroe and Clora Glidewell Taylor. She was a member of the Big Springs United Methodist Church and the retired owner and operator of Dowdy Grocery Store.
She is survived by a brother, James Taylor of Jackson; TN. Other than her parents and her husband, Mrs. Dowdy was also preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.
