She was born on July 3, 1925, in Gretna, LA and raised by her mother, Veronica McCune, and her Grandmother, Louisa Dauenhauer. Her school friend, Catherine Edwards, introduced her to her brother Edwin Wiltz Edwards. On January 4, 1947 she married Dr. Edwin Wiltz Edwards. In early married years they lived in New Orleans, LA and Rochester, NY before moving to Jackson, TN in 1952.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served joyfully and also was a volunteer at St. Mary’s School, the school her children attended. Her hobbies included golf, bridge, cooking, music, and gardening. She and her husband enjoyed decade long friendships through church and school, neighbors, supper club, and their hobbies.
She was a mother to nine children which is quite different from being an only child. Her children believe her to have been the best mother of all time. She always put her family before herself. She watched countless ballgames of her children and especially expressed her love while watching a game in cold weather. All the children growing up on Pine Tree Drive had multiple second mothers and she enjoyed being one.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons: David Wiltz Edwards, Patrick Wiltz Edwards, and Timothy Keefe Edwards. She is survived by her son Andrew Wiltz Edwards (Vicki), daughter in law Judy Foster Edwards, son Edwin Wiltz Edwards, Jr. (Maxine), son, Michael Wiltz Edwards (Lori), daughter Mary Louisa Edwards, son Christopher Keefe Edwards, and son Joel Keefe Edwards (Dottie) and her grandchildren: Catherine Edwards Polk, Patrick Wiltz Edwards, Jr., Peter Murray Edwards, Edwin Wiltz Edwards, Louisa McCune Edwards, William Lavin Edwards, Eliza Noelle Edwards, Stephen Joel Edwards, Laura Elizabeth Edwards, David Christopher Edwards and her greatgrandchildren: Maddison Faith Edwards, Ethan Murray Edwards, Grace Katherine Edwards, Griffin Timothy Edwards.
Greatest of all was her faith in the Lord Jesus. She expressed her faith in her prayer life, studying the Holy Scripture, and her devotion to attending Mass. She showed the love of Christ to all she encountered.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Vegors and his nurse Cathy Dyer, the staff of Healthcare Pharmacy and her wonderful care givers especially Evangline Van Buren.
Visitation will be held 10:00, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the funeral mass to follow at noon. She will be buried at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or school, 1665 Hwy 45 ByPass, Jackson, TN 38305; or the charity of your choice.
