

Adel Saleem Bateh, 81, passed away August 31, 2017. He was born June 22, 1936 in Ramallah, Palestine. After immigrating to the United States, Adel settled in Jacksonville. He and his family later moved to Lake Worth in South Florida, where he and his wife, Armallina, raised their two children, worked in their business, and spent many happy hours at school events and the ball park watching their children, Eddie and Tonia, play their favorite sports. Later, the family moved back to Jacksonville, where he was a successful business owner and a member the Ramallah-American Club.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Adel will be deeply missed by all of us, but he will always live on in our hearts. Adel is survived by his wife, Armallina; his son, Adel Bateh, Jr. (Nisreen); his daughter, Tonia Thomas (Ken); and his grandson, Brandon Bateh; as well as three loving sisters, Salima Zarou (the late Salim Zarou), Naimeh Butrus (the late Jad Butrus), and Karimeh Bateh (the late Kamal Bateh). He was preceded in death by his parents, Saleem and Nimeh Bateh; three brothers, Shukry Bateh (Suad), Fuad Bateh (Renee), Said Bateh (Vera); his sister, Juliette Butros (the late Sami Butros). His sister, Nabeeha Shalley (the late William Shalley) passed away the day after Adel, on September 1, 2017.
A public visitation begins at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 with a Trisagion service commencing at 7:00 PM at St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church, 6300 Bowden Rd., Jacksonville, Florida 32216. Funeral service will commence at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church with procession and interment to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Very Reverend Archpriest Kamal Al-Rahil, officiating.
