

Albert Coleman was born to Henry & Emma Coleman on April 8, 1917, in Boston, Georgia. He was raised on a farm by his grandparents until he moved with his mother Emma to Jacksonville, Florida. Albert was educated in Jacksonville; he attended and graduated from Old Stanton High School. On July 27, 1942, he married his lovely bride of 72 years, Martha Ellis in St. Augustine, Florida.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army as a Private 1st Class of the Company “B” 226th Engineer Battalion. During the war he participated in battles and campaigns in Sicily, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Arno and North Apennines, Italy; and received the Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. Albert was honorably discharged from the United States Army on November 12, 1945. Upon discharge from the military, he was employed for many years at Naval Air Station Jacksonville with the Civil Service.
Albert was an active member of the Central Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was baptized on July 18, 1972. He faithfully engaged in field ministry and counseled younger members for many years. He rose to the position of elder and was a beacon of compassion and wisdom for many in the congregation. His passion for the truth was evident and he remained a faithful servant of Jehovah until the very end.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Emma Coleman, brother and sister-in-law Otis and Louise Coleman, and his daughter Tessie Carter White. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Martha Ellis, son-in-law Dr. David A. White, grandchildren Gregory V. White (Charlotte), Zachary A. White (Gina), Stacy A. White (Lyn), Kelsey D. White, and Kay W. Blount (Kelly), great-grandchildren Emma, Marcia, Monica, Brittany, Jamie, Jonathan, Jasmine, Justin, Kelci-leanne, Amber, and Ian, great-great-grandchildren Zane and Zion, special cousins Linda Grant, Donna Grant, Leo Grant (Quanta), Marion Calloway (Jermaine), Cornelius Grant (Melika) and a host of other cousins and family members.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015, 11am at Central Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness. Arrangements are under the care of Hardage Giddens Edgewood Chapel 729 S. Edgewood Avenue Jacksonville, Florida 32205.
