

Aleph Mary Pittman Kaneer, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida died quietly in her sleep on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She was born to James C. and Jessie Pittman on November 29, 1925. She had seven brothers and sisters all of whom predeceased her. Aleph attended Andrew Jackson High School, graduating in 1943. On February 20, 1945 Aleph married Roy Kaneer of St Louis, Missouri. They had seven children who are Bill Kaneer of Denver, Colorado; Bob Kaneer of Jacksonville, Florida; Leroy Cone, deceased; Faye Buckner of Troy, Tennessee; Bonnie Vacher of Athens, Georgia; Ronnie Kaneer of Jacksonville, Florida; Randy Kaneer of Jacksonville, Florida. Aleph (Mom) loved many things:• “Counting on” Jesus• The family--which means parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, husband, children (7), and an ever-expending quiver full of grandchildren who won’t sit still to be counted but range in age from 48 years to 3 months, many great grandchildren and 3 double greats—so far• Cooking for others—when we talk about Mom, we mention chicken and rice, peas (“I’ve got some peas I can heat up.”), various Jello salads, carrot cake, blackberry cobbler, fudge squares (not to be confused with brownies), strawberry shortcake, etc• Visiting and helping the sick or injured and taking food (see above)• Gardening and canning or freezing the produce and slicing and serving fresh tomatoes• Nursing (She became an R.N. in the early 70’s.)• Crossroads Baptist Church• Praying for everyone—over and over and overAleph was predeceased by Roy (1921-2010), her husband of sixty-five years, Leroy Cone (1947-1968), their son, and survived by so many loving children, grand and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and old and true friends.Visitation will be at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue, Jacksonville, on Monday, August 19th from 6-8:00 pm. The funeral will be at Crossroads Baptist Church, 12165 Duval Rd, Jacksonville, 32218, on Tuesday, August 20th at 11:00 am. A short grave-side service will follow at Jones Cemetery in Callahan, Florida.Mom, we miss you already; but we rejoice with you knowing that your days of forgetting are over and you have already seen the face of your Lord.
