Sandy, the youngest of four children, was born on January 30, 1949, to Alexander M. and Virtrece Manson in Jacksonville. He graduated from Wolfson High School in 1966 and went on to graduate from the University of South Florida in Tampa.
In 1971, Sandy married the love of his life, Jewel Lee Jones. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where Sandy managed a department for Sears for over seventeen years, and he also became a diehard Cornhusker fan. In 1987, they moved to Valdosta, Georgia where he finished out his career with Sears before returning to Jacksonville where Sandy began his second career with Gate Petroleum. He was soon recognized and made the poster boy for what a successful, caring store manager should be. Sandy was also a proud veteran of 18 years of service with the United States Army Reserves. Additionally, Sandy faithfully served the Lord for many years at his church through the Grief Share and Divorce Care ministries.
Sandy is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Alexander Mackenzie Manson and Virtrece Adams Manson, and his loving wife Julie. Left to cherish his memory are his three sisters: Jane (Bob) Seapy and their children: Christian, Lilian, and Elisa; Rosemary (Frost) Weaver and their children: Scot, Teresa, and Christopher; and Karen (Rod) Burns and their children: Clif and Kira. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at Christian Family Chapel, 10365 Old Saint Augustine Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 at 10:30AM, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church in his name designated to Missions or the Readiosity fund.
