

Anne "Nancy" Amelia Widener, age 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Jacksonville, Florida, on December 29, 2024, at 12:12 PM, surrounded by family. Nancy's husband, Larry, of 70 years had passed away earlier this year, so now they are once again together.
Nancy was born on June 18, 1928 in Richmond, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Edmund Wilton and Mary C. Langton of Portsmouth, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Langton, a US Navy veteran of WWII, and sister, Mary ELizabeth "Betty" Callahan. She is survived by her four children: Mary Jo Widener Tan, Mark Stephen Widener, Frances Widener Christian and Daniel Matthew Widener.She has 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by two daughters-in-law: Barbara McIntosh Widener and Nancy Corniola Widener and two sons-in-law: Takeo Tan and John E. Christian, Jr.
A native of Virginia, and even though she and her family relocated to Florida in 1967, she has always considered herself a "Virginian" and Virginia was home.
Nancy has a short period of working for the Seaboard Coastline Railroad before her marriage to Larry. Afterwards, when children were, she opted to become a full-time mother and homemaker. She was a dedicated and loving mother, raising her four children and ensuring their education by their attendance in Catholic Schools. She involved herself in their education with many years spent volunteering at the school's library. She encouraged and supported her children to attended college, which they all completed with both undergraduate and advanced degrees.
Nancy was actively involved as a parishioner of Resurrection Catholic Church for almost 60 years with various ministries such as circle groups, St. Vincent de Paul, Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed her sewing group with her parish friends, making baby blankets for her new grandchildren.
Her longtime home was in the Arlington suburb of Jacksonville, Florida, with her husband, Larry, before his passing in January 2024.
The viewing will take place on Friday January 10, 2025 - 5:00-7:00 - Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. A rosary will be said beginning at 6:30.
Funeral Mass - January 11, 11:00 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church. Graveside will be held following the Funeral Mass at Arlington Park Cemetery.
