Barbara grew up in Central Wisconsin where she enjoyed the outdoors and riding horses. She later moved to South Florida and worked in retail jewelry and then to Charleston, SC in the furniture industry. In these early years Barbara developed and showcased her extraordinary talent for design. In 1993 she responded to her calling of becoming a nurse and relocated to Jacksonville, FL. It was there she met her beloved husband Mike Denison, and they were married August 12, 1995. They both enjoyed their careers, music, fine dining and traveled all over the world together.
Along with a successful nursing career with Mayo Clinic Jacksonville, Barbara also created exquisite jewelry, was an amazing gardener, fantastic cook, award winning photographer, and personally designed she and Mike’s beautiful home in St Johns, FL.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 27 years, Mike Denison, her father Marvin Keen of Stevens Point, WI, her brother Randy Keen (Janet) of Stevens Point, WI, her brother Russ Keen (Dori) of Jacksonville, FL, and her brother in law Father Fred Denison of Brandenburg, KY. She will also be missed by her nephews Nick Keen of Stevens Point, WI, Sam Keen of Elkhorn, WI and Reese Keen of Jacksonville, FL.
She leaves, with her husband, the Renewable Michael A. Denison and Barbara A. Denison Music Scholarship for Indiana University Southeast (IUS) students majoring or minoring in instrumental or vocal music or participating in a music ensemble. They also leave behind a Faith Legacy gift that establishes in perpetuity the Michael A. Denison and Barbara A. Denison Guardian Catholic School Fund, which makes a lasting impact on the Church’s work in North Florida.

She was loved deeply and will be remembered for her zest for life and generous spirit. Barbara’s smile and laughter carries on in the hearts of all who have loved her.
