

Barry Steven Sinoff passed away suddenly on March 22, 2016 surrounded by his wife and sons. He was born on September 29, 1942 in Jacksonville, Florida. Barry graduated from the University of Florida where he also received his Juris Doctor Degree. He was a past president of Florida Blue Key and past president of Tau Epsilon Phi Fraternity. Following his admittance to the Florida Bar, Barry began his legal career as First Assistant Public Defender, 1968-1972 and Assistant General Counsel of Consolidated City of Jacksonville, Florida, 1972-1973. The majority of Barry’s legal career was spent as a family law attorney. He received many awards and honors including: “Best Lawyers in America” (since 1995), Lawyer of the Year 2016, AV rating in Martindale Hubbell since 1983, Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since 1999; Recipient, Annual Professionalism Award, Florida Family Law American Inn of Court, 2002; “Super Lawyers” since 2008; "Best Lawyers," Jacksonville Magazine - April, 2008; "Florida Legal Elite," Florida Trend Magazine - July, 2008; US News and World Report (2016 Best Law Firms). Barry was a member of the Jacksonville and American Bar Associations; The Florida Bar; and a Charter Member (Master) of The Florida Family Law American Inn of Court. His family, friends, clients, colleagues and judges were grateful for his kindness, courtesy and generosity, not to mention his wonderful sense of humor. He loved life, his family, people, Florida Gators sports, The Masters Tournament and a fine cigar. His joy was telling wonderful stories about his grandchildren.
Barry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole; his sons, Brad (Brenda) and Adam (Sarah); and his grandchildren, Ari, Claire, Eden and Benjamin.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions in Barry’s memory can be made to the University of Florida Foundation, the Lustgarten Foundation or the Jacksonville Jewish Center.
The funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11 o’clock in the morning at the Hardage-Giddens Hendricks Chapel, 4115 Hendricks Avenue, Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
