

Brad was born to Connell B. Himes, Jr and Jacqueline Peters Himes on June 29, 1950 in Cincinnati, OH. He was the oldest of five siblings. His family moved to Largo, Florida in 1957 and then to Orlando in 1964 where Brad finished his public education before entering the US Navy. Brad attended Boone Sr. High and Edgewater Sr. High in Orlando, Florida where he was active in the Forensic and Thespian Clubs.
Brad enlisted in the US Navy after graduating high school. He served initially as a Torpedoman’s Mate with most of his 20 years as a Cryptologic Technician before retiring with honors. Brad was stationed all over the world, including Hawaii, Okinawa, Naples, and Roda, Spain. He was then transferred to the Navy Reserves. Brad was employed in the civilian sector until entering the service of the US State Department in 2003 as a Technical Specialist in Security Engineering. Again stationed internationally in US embassies located in Tokyo, Japan; Amman, Jordan; Ankara, Turkey; Bagdad, Iraq; and Vienna, Austria. Brad recently retired from the last assignment in Vienna after 11 years of service in the US State Department.
The love of his life and kindred spirit was his wife Margaret Philpott-Himes who was affectionately called Maggie. They were married for almost 25 years.
Brad is survived by his daughter Erica Himes Poole and her two daughters Sahara Rayne Poole and Sunni Shiloh Poole all from Austin, TX; brother Mark E. Himes (Laura) of Jacksonville, FL; sister Marianne Perry (Keith) of West Melbourne, FL; as well as nieces and nephews. Brad was predeceased by his loving wife, Maggie, his parents Connell B. Himes, Jr and Jacqueline Peters Himes; his two brothers, Dale Edward Himes and Robert Tracy Himes.
