In the early morning of August 15, Bryan Stansel, at the young age of 52, passed away peacefully in his sleep. He would’ve been 53 on September 1st. He leaves behind his wife Maiju Stansel and their two dogs Olivia and Hayleigh; his mother Helga Stansel, brother Dennis Stansel (& his wife Sandi), sister Sandy Rothwell (& her husband Paul), nephews Chuck & Chris (and their families), his mother-in-law Linda LeVesque, sister-in-law Samantha Duprey (& her partner Caleb Burkle), nieces Maggie & Lily and nephew Bo; and brother-in-law John LeVesque (& his wife Christie), nephew Matthew; and niece Zoey. He was predeceased by his father Edward ‘Roy Stansel.
Bryan was born in Tampa, Florida and was in the Navy for 5 years. His last port of call in the Navy was Mayport, and his remaining years were spent in Jacksonville, Florida. He worked in the information technology field at Florida Blue/Guidewell for 22 yrs.
He was a lover of music, cars, Legos, travel, food, wine and all the good things life has to offer. He will be sorely missed by all of his friends, colleagues and especially his family.
In 2004 he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy which was later DNA mapped to be Emery Dreyfuss Muscular Dystrophy x-linked type 6 relating to the FHL1 gene. This is what he ultimately succumbed to. This is not how we define him, nor how we want to remember him, but to honor him in lieu of flowers the family is requesting you make a specific donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association earmarked for research for EDMD-6/FHL1.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd, Jacksonville, Florida 32211. If you can’t travel for any reason the service will be broadcast via the link listed below.
