Carol Ann Martine

Carol Ann Messier Martine passed away on June 22, 2023 at 79 years old. She was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 31, 1943 to parents Ephrem J. Messier and Dorothy M. Macauley. She attended Catholic schools through her 12th grade education. She went on to graduate from Queens College in New York with a master’s degree. She went on to work as a teacher in Upstate New York and Harlem for about three years. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida in January of 1970. Carol married her long-time partner Gene Martine in Folkston, Georgia in the year 1972. They had originally met when Carol was 17 and a half years old and reunited five to six years later and were inseparable ever sense. She also earned her masters’ degrees in administration supervision and education from the University of North Florida in the late 1970s. She retired from the Duval County Public School System and the Southside Estates Elementary School in 2001. During retirement Carol was able to pursue her multimedia artistic passions and even started a successful YouTube channel, CarolMartineArt, which garnered over four thousand subscribers. A committal service will be held in her honor at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Thursday July 6, 2023 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Carol’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
