

Carolyn Cudd Montgomery, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 19, 2015. Carolyn was born on December 2, 1932, daughter of Henry and Louise Cudd, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She attended Winthrop College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and later graduated from the University of Missouri-St. Louis with a BS in Education and a MS in Reading Education. Carolyn was a teacher for the Hazelwood School District, St. Louis, Missouri. Carolyn was a long-time member of Mandarin Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida.
Carolyn is lovingly remembered for her faith in God, love of family and friends, kindness to others, generous spirit, passion for reading, fierce loyalty, beautiful smile and irresistibly contagious laughter. She is greatly missed. Carolyn celebrated 63 years of marriage to Benjamin Lewis Montgomery, II, who survives her and loved her very much. She is also survived by her children: Vicki Montgomery Grossmann (m. to Roger Grossmann); Benjamin Lewis Montgomery, III (m. to Ruth Montgomery); Hugh Edward Montgomery (m. to Rhonda Montgomery); and Elizabeth (“Libby”) Lynn Montgomery Moses, as well as grandchildren: Joshua M. Grossmann, Melanie Grossmann Gregory, Nathanael G. Grossmann; Benjamin Lewis Montgomery IV, Carter Montgomery, Caitlin Montgomery, Michael (“Monte”) M. Moses, and Rebecca E. Moses, and three great-grandchildren. Her parents, older brother, Robert H. Cudd, and grandson, Zachary Montgomery, preceded her in death. She loved them all and knows they loved her.
The family would like to thank Drs. Roger Miller and Safeer Ashraf, and the nursing staff at Baptist Medical Center South for their compassionate care of Carolyn. The family also appreciates the loving kindnesses of Pastors Mark Seagle and Dr. Dan Davis, as well as Carolyn’s devoted church family and Sunday School class at Mandarin Baptist Church. They have truly been a bridge over troubled waters in these last months.
A Memorial Service for Carolyn will be held at Mandarin Baptist Church on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to IICD, The Good Shepherd Ministries, c/o Hamilton Financial, 3710 University Dr., Suite 330, Durham, North Carolina 27707.
