Cathy Murdick Dennette

Cathy had a long life filled with many different vocations including teller, insurance and title clerk with Atlantic bank, bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward in Gateway Mall, administrative clerk 3 at the DCPS team center where everything in the school system passed through her hands and finished her last 12 years as bookkeeper at Merrill Road Elementary. However, what she and her family were most proud of was her role in founding Seacoast Christian School which later merged with Welcome Homecare Academy to become Seacoast Christian Academy. She served faithfully on the board for SCA from 1993 until summer of 2002.

Cathy was loved by all who knew her but especially those family and friends she's left behind. Her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Rhydon Call Dennette III; her daughter Amanda Dennette Chitwood (CJ); her grandchildren, Jordyn Dance, Adelyn Chitwood, Cordelia Chitwood and Elodie Chitwood; her brother, Jack Murdick and sister Debbie Fleming. All who entered her home became family. Even though she only had one biological daughter, she considered all of her daughter's friends as her children over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mildred Murdick, and her two sisters Linda Wittenauer and Judy Boswell.

Those that she left behind will miss her incredible heart and passion for loving others. All who knew her will forever have a Cathy sized hole in our hearts but we can rest assured that this isn't goodbye, but merely a "see you later" until we are all reunited one day.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 from 6 pm—8 pm at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. with a Memorial Service at 11 am on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Parkwood Baptist Church.
