It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Walter "Buddy" Spiller, 83, a beloved member of the Jacksonville community. After a life richly lived, Buddy passed away on April 15, 2025.
Known for his kindness and gentle spirit, Buddy was a loving and generous soul. He graduated from Landon High School, earned a college degree, and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked for the City of Jacksonville, continuing his lifelong dedication to service.
Born in Jacksonville in 1941 to Joseph and Beatrice Spiller, Buddy was a devoted brother to his three sisters: Betty Moyle, Nina Grundig, and Patricia Spiller (deceased). He was a loving uncle to Chuck, Karen, Jim, Debbie, Judy, and John, and was cherished by many great-nieces and nephews.
He will be deeply missed, and we will carry his memory in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m. at the George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, located at 4140 University Blvd S., with visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 prior to the service. Interment will immediately follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
