Charles Merrill Spock, affectionately known as Charlie, passed peacefully early in the morning of April 5, 2024 in Jacksonville, FL. A true renaissance man, he accomplished many things during his 91 years on this earth.
Charlie was born to Nelson and Mary Spock on the 13th of August, 1932 in Daytona Beach. His father, the stage manager of the Peabody Auditorium, instilled in him a love of theater and stagehand work that would pass on to his children and grandchildren. He joined the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees in 1950, later achieving an honorary lifetime membership with the local 115. All the while, he worked as an Aeronautical Engineering Technician at NAS Jacksonville, retiring in 1999. In between his stagehand work and engineering, his artistic side flourished with his professional photography and woodworking. While he thoroughly enjoyed his work, he took the most pride in his beloved wife, Ann, and the family they created together. His smile was always the brightest when surrounded by his children.
Those left to cherish and tell tales of Charlie’s adventures are as follows: His wife, Ann; eldest son, Charles Jr. and wife, Debbie; Robert and wife, Lisa; Richard and wife, Lauren; and youngest son, David and wife, Theresa. His grandchildren, Candi, Vanessa, Janell, and Justin; Andrew and Allison; Corey, Michael, and Shannon; and Alexander; 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
