Charlie T Davis, age 89, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 23, 2021. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida on September 20, 1932. Charlie loved life and lived it to the fullest. He got a kick out of telling people the "T" for his middle name stood for "trouble".
He worked with JEA for 30 years and retired in 1992 at the age of 58. He was a foreman in the transformer department on Pearl Street. Charlie's passion was his music. He played rhythm guitar in the bluegrass band, "Molasses Junction" for many years, but what most people remember about him was his spoon playing. He made sure to always carry them just in case someone asked him to play. He was very proud of it and would tell all he met that he was on YouTube under Charlie Spoons to look him up and he would always ask if you did.
He loved the mountains and he had a place in Hendersonville, NC for many years. It was a place where he could relax, play his music, eat at all his favorite places and just enjoy life.
Charlie never met a stranger and loved to joke and make you laugh. He attended Deermeadows Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years. Charlie was a loving and caring dad to his 3 children, Sandra Hazouri (Bobby), Martha Rogers (Ron) and Tom Davis. He leaves behind 2 grandchildren, Christa Powell (Erik) and David Rogers; and 1 great grandson, Luke Powell.
Visitation for Charlie will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
